New BMW 5 Series Reviews
The new BMW 5 Series has already been reviewed in pre-production form. Ahead of its official launch, we give you the preliminary verdict
It’s clear that the new 5 Series is going to be a clear step forward over its predecessor in all areas, which itself was an accomplished executive saloon. Most crucially of all, however, the 5 Series looks set to be an even more satisfying drive than before, which will be welcome news indeed for the keener drivers out there.
New BMW 5 Series reviews seem to be positive about the seventh generation model. Weighing 100 kilos less than the old car, depending on the version, and with a stiffer body and new and refined suspension arrangements at both ends, the new 5 Series has an even better base from which to work from. The new model is bigger than before, mainly in an attempt to improve rear passenger space, and improvements to cabin insulation aim to improve refinement levels. There’s also a vast amount of technology onboard the new BMW saloon, but reviewers didn’t have an opportunity to test the majority of it.
Impressive, by all accounts. Three versions were available for testing, to demonstrate the various effects of the new 5 Series’ chassis technology. Every model apparently displays excellent balance and composure, even the most basic car, and it feels much lighter on its feet and more agile. The four-wheel steering system improves the feeling of nimbleness, while the adaptive suspension increases the breadth of abilities of the 5 Series even more. xDrive still displays a degree of rear-wheel drive handling characteristics as well. Overall, the new car is every bit the driver’s car that all its predecessors have been.
