BMW i3 Reviews

The BMW i3 is one of the most desirable small electric cars on the market, for numerous reasons

The BMW i3 is, even three years after its launch, an exciting and certainly very novel car. Made from carbon fibre, it boasts a lightweight, highly advanced construction that contains similarly advanced battery technology. In combination with a small range extender petrol engine, it provides decent usability, say BMW i3 reviews, while an 80-mile range is all that you can expect from the electric-only model, with the range extender, 160 miles is achievable. It is also stylishly and distinctively designed inside and out and is enjoyable to drive, which makes it one of the few genuinely desirable electric cars around, according to new car reviews.

There are compromises, however. Space in the back is limited by the packaging of the batteries; rear-seat accommodation is tight and the boot is rather small. Passengers are treated to a distinctive and well-designed interior, however, enjoying excellent ergonomics and very good equipment levels. The driving experience is similarly easy to get on with, due to light controls, instant power delivery, good visibility everywhere, but to the rear, and small dimensions. This makes it a joy to drive in town and very relaxing in all circumstances, but it is also one of very few electric cars that is genuinely enjoyable to drive at pace on an open road, with great agility and balance and enough performance to satisfy keen drivers.

Should I buy a BMW i3?

The BMW i3 is expensive, and not without its compromises in terms of interior packaging and range; the usual electric car complaints, in other words. However, running costs can be very reasonable and on an emotional level the BMW appeals greatly: it is enjoyable to drive, whether fast or slow, and looks and feels like a very unique, interesting and desirable product.
