Hyundai i10 Reviews

A small car that suffers fewer compromises than most for its size; the i10 is one of the best city cars around

The overriding impression you get from Hyundai i10 reviews is that in many ways it feels like a car from the class above. This can only be a good thing, because cars in the class above benefit from their larger dimensions in numerous ways and cost a lot more money because of it, making the i10 a very competent and great value city car proposition. The main way larger cars benefit is, obviously, more space and practicality. The i10 is obviously still constrained by its size, yet new car reviews report that it makes far better use of its space than most rivals and is more roomy as a result – there’s plenty of space for four adults, or even five at a push, and the boot has a useful 252-litre capacity. Cabin quality is also good for the city car class, while there’s a long list of standard equipment.

The second major reason the i10 feels like a bigger car is in the way it drives. It feels composed and assured on motorways and open roads, the handling safe and predictable and the ride very good, while road, wind and engine noise are all kept in check. It’s more supermini than city car, in other words. However, the light controls, excellent visibility and compact dimensions mean the Hyundai i10 is still very easy to drive around town. Two petrol engines are available, a 66hp 1.0 three-cylinder and an 87hp 1.2 four-cylinder, but although both deliver decent performance and fuel economy the 1.0 is smoother and more efficient.

  • Should I buy a Hyundai i10?

It’s hard to see why you wouldn’t, if you’re in the market for a highly competent all-rounder and a very sensible purchase. It might not be the most stylish or exciting of cars, but for a city car it is very spacious and practical, extremely refined and comfortable, built to a decent quality, great value for money and cheap to run.
