Renault Zoe Reviews

The Renault Zoe is not only one of the cheapest electric cars available, but also one of the best

Renault is certainly no stranger to the electric car market, with the Fluence saloon, Twizy city car and Kangoo van, all part of the French maker’s electric car range. So it says a lot for this supermini that Renault Zoe reviews agree that it is the best electric car Renault makes. Part of this is down to price. More often than not, buyers must pay for the privilege of owning an electric car, even with the government grant that’s still available, yet the Zoe costs no more than the equivalent petrol supermini. This is because Renault offers lease packages for the car’s batteries (starting at less than the cost of a small tank of fuel a month), in effect, spreading the cost of ownership. And then, of course, there is the fact that it costs barely anything to run.

The Zoe makes a good case for itself in other ways as well. As with most electric cars, refinement is excellent, performance easily accessible, comfort levels good, and it is effortlessly easy to drive. It is also easy to live with, thanks to a big boot and space enough for adults to travel in comfort in the back. Then, there are its distinctive, stylish looks both inside and out and its generous standard specification, which includes cruise control, Bluetooth, climate control, 15-inch alloy wheels, TomTom-derived satnav and touchscreen infotainment. Of course, there are downsides to electric car motoring, however, in the form of limited range and long charge times, and in the Zoe’s case that means only 90 miles from a full charge and three hours (from a fast home charger or public charge point) to achieve that.

  • Should I buy a Renault Zoe?

Comfortable, refined, easy to drive, good looking and with decent levels of equipment and tech, the Zoe is a desirable little car that is reasonable money to buy and very cheap indeed to run. If you live in a city and have good access to charge points, then the Zoe is definitely worth considering.
